If you've been trying to sell your Elizabeth, New Jersey home and buy Toronto Beaches real estate for years, then you're obviously doing something wrong. Have you noticed people pulling up to the house and then driving away without even getting out? Do your neighbors complain about your home bringing the neighborhood down? If so, then you may be suffering from bad curb appeal. Here are some things that can give your home bad curb appeal.
Disrepair
One of the biggest turn offs for buyers is when they see houses that obviously haven't been looked after. If the paint is peeling, the roof needs to be repaired, the windows are boarded up, the driveway is lined with cracks, the pool is empty and broken, or the fence is crooked and ineffectual, buyers are going to do a u-turn in front of your place and go look at Mississauga, Ontario homes instead. Put some money into repairs or you'll end up paying buyers to take the home off your hands.
Ugly Decor/Design
There's a misconception floating around out there that any type of renovation or remodel will add value to your home, but this is not true at all. In fact, ugly or edgy renovations can actually downgrade the value of your home. Chances are if you don't see the same features on other Davisville Village houses, it's not a good choice. And as for paint colors, stay neutral and you'll be fine. Bright colors, unusual tones, or multicolored paint schemes are a huge turnoff.
Visible Rubbish
This is the easiest thing in the world to fix, but plenty of people still expect their Ajax house for sale to bring in big money even with rusted old car parts on the lawn, a yard full of junk you should have thrown away years ago, and trash cans in front of the house that obviously haven't been emptied in far too long. A house (windows, walls, etc) covered in dirt and graffiti is another big no no.
Awful Landscaping
It's not just the house you're selling, it's the property too, so the yard of your Lagrange, NY real estate had better look like it's worth buying. Weedy lawns that are patchy with dirt and dead grass are hardly a good investment. Trees and bushes overgrowing so much that they hide the house are actually a danger, and no landscaping at all is decidedly uninspiring.
