Many times, most of the important parts about a real estate transaction will be taken care of, the details anyway. If you are transferring from a job selling St. Lawrence Market condos and into a new job with an Elizabeth zip code, for example, locational considerations are already out of the way. You know that you have to live in Elizabeth or somewhere nearby, unless you want a huge commute every day.
However, the town you are going to be living in is just one of many factors when it comes to choosing the ideal location for your new home. Most Mississauga real estate agents can tell you that people have different criteria when it comes to selecting the ideal spot, and that criteria will vary from one buyer to the next. Here are a few things which you might want to keep in mind as you select a location for your next home purchase.
First, there is the question of balancing your work life with your family life. Most people choose a home based on where their child will go to school, rather than on how close it is to their jobs. Part of the reason of course is cost; like real estate in Toronto and every other city, the closer into town one gets the pricier homes are. Most people don't mind driving a little ways to get into work if it saves them a few thousand dollars on a home purchase.
Another thing to think about is whether or not you will be home when your kids get home from school. If you work past the end of school or odd hours, you want your kids to be able to get home with as little difficulty as possible. Walking home is the best option, but people who live on Yonge and Bloor or similar busy streets in Elizabeth may prefer their kids bussed to and from their schools.
Alternatively, you may send your kids to daycare after school. In that case, the proximity of your home to the school your child attends will not matter as much. Instead, you can pick them up on your way home to the piece of Elizabeth or Acton real estate where you all live together as a family.
Cost will always be a major factor in choosing location as well. Just like any other city, Elizabeth has some areas which are much more expensive than others. Your budget will probably play a big role in deciding where you end up buying a new home.
